What to Expect: Interior Design For Your Custom Home Build
When doing research for your custom home, perhaps you’ve heard of ‘Full Service Interior Design,’ but does anyone really know what that means?
Even more pressing, do you know how painful the alternative can be?
For a few recent clients of Sarah Noel Interiors, their design process was excruciating before they decided to give us call. Consider what goes into designing a room, the colors, the textures, and finding great pieces… we have plenty of clients with great taste who can do this on their own.
But who orders the samples? Does the electrician come before or after the paint? Were the sconces meant to be hardwired? Wet rated? Does the mounting plate fit the J-box or does it need resizing? What type of light bulbs are needed for the chandelier? Is your bathroom faucet wall-mounted? That requires opening the wall so plumbing rough-ins are first! What window treatments will fit the new style? What level opacity do you need? What materials are best in a wine cellar? Does it require an external de-humidifier or is it currently vented? Have you ordered the dining chairs yet? How many will even fit?
Whew. Are you stressed out yet? That’s a paragraph I could spend days filling.
Full Service Interior Design
Full Service Interior Design means we manage these items for you from start to finish - whether your project is a remodel, custom home build, or somewhere in between - you don’t have to touch a thing.
Each project has it’s own custom order of procedure based on the individual scope. Think of how many emails, orders, quantities, and furniture details, even if you ordered all your furniture from one place… it would make for impossible tracking! But I’m guessing if you’re going through all the time and effort to overhaul your home, you’ll want a look no one else has, right? And access to pieces only your designer can get you? That’s all part of the full service experience.
When it comes to construction, we have the best trade partners in town. Not only do we love our crews on a personal level, but we gain a professional shorthand in working with them so regularly. This not only saves you HOURS in additional labor, but creates certainty, timeliness, and saves major costs when you prevent unnecessary change orders, return trips, or just flat-out wrong selections! I can’t tell you how many blue-tinted homes I’ve seen when the client just wanted a nice fresh white… and paint ain’t cheap!
Once we’ve finalized our design concepts together, we send our crews out to collect quotes and determine feasibility. As soon as we know what we can officially do, we take those details to your design to curate the specifics and manage the entire process behind the scenes.
When you need window coverings, we’ll send Michelle to measure your windows. Do you need recessed or decorative lighting? Ken and his crew are the best electricians in town - we bring them everywhere we go. And when the wallpaper is ready for install, Kevin will be up on a ladder somewhere taking a ruler and level to your plaid wallpaper for the utmost precision. Nick and his crew are the most skilled art and gallery wall hangers around. And our movers! Oh, they’re phenomenal. White glove services to all reaches of Colorado - we’re loyal to this crew.
Our moving crew is also part of a larger receiving team that inspects every furniture piece for us and alerts us to damages or inconsistencies. When something arrives damaged (there’s at least one in every project!), we work with the manufacturer to have it replaced quickly and easily, all without our clients even being aware of the issue, let alone sitting on the phone with customer service. These issues are all handled behind the scenes to deliver your perfectly seamless design.
Full service design is a luxury offering and trust me when I say - it pays for itself.
